THE EFFECT OF USING A MOODLE-BASED LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LMS) ON MOTIVATION AND LEARNING OUTCOMES OF NURSING STUDENTS

Abstract

The use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) has become one of the main innovations in education, including in the field of nursing, to support flexible, interactive, and effective learning processes. This study aims to determine the effect of using a Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS) on the motivation and learning outcomes of nursing students at ITSK RS dr. Soepraoen Malang. The research method used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (pre-test and post-test without a control group). The sample consisted of 34 second-semester students in the D3 Nursing program. The instruments used were the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) to measure learning motivation and an LMS-based learning outcome test. The results showed an increase in learning motivation from the low category (24 students) to the medium category (28 students) and the high category (4 students). The average learning outcome score increased from 60 to 80 after using the LMS. The t-test showed a significant difference (p<0.05), and the regression results showed a positive relationship between motivation and learning outcomes (R=0.68; R²=0.46). It can be concluded that the use of the Moodle LMS has a significant effect on the motivation and learning outcomes of nursing students.
