Abstract

Introduction: Every pregnant woman faces sudden and unexpected pregnancy risks that may affect maternal and fetal health. Pregnancy danger signs awarenes  is an important first step to ensure proper prenatal care. Several factors influence maternal mortality rate (MMR) including the mother's knowledge about her pregnancy which in turn is related to attitude and behavior during pregnancy. This study aims to assess the relationship between maternal knowledge about high-risk pregnancy and antenatal care (ANC) visits at the Balison Health Center. Methods: This study was a quantitative study with a correlation analytic design using a cross-sectional approach. The study population included all pregnant women registered at the Balison Health Center, West Halmahera Regency in the last 3 months, with a total sample of 20 pregnant women, using the total sampling technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire with Spearman Rho statistical test approach.  Results: Correlation analysis showed an r value of -0.266 which means there is a weak correlation between knowledge and ANC visits. The p value of 0.256 indicates that this relationship is not statistically significant. Factors such as age, occupation, perception of the effectiveness of online information seeking, parity, and distance to health services may be related to this phenomenon. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there was no significant association between mothers' knowledge about high-risk pregnancy and ANC visits in this study. Further research is needed to evaluate factors such as perceived effectiveness of online information seeking, parity, and distance to health services
